Located in the heart of Brookline at 1298 Beacon St, Flake brings the authentic Portuguese Pastel de Nata to the Boston community. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Stephen Chen and Cristina Quintino, Flake is the culmination of their shared passion for Portuguese pastry traditions and their dream to introduce Boston to pastéis de nata — Lisbon’s beloved egg custard tarts.
Cristina, who grew up in Lisbon, missed the familiar taste of pastéis de nata when she moved to Brookline. Determined to fill the gap, Flake was born, offering these crispy, golden tarts with their velvety custard filling, alongside a curated selection of other traditional Portuguese pastries.
Whether you’re grabbing a treat to-go or enjoying a coffee in our cozy shop, Flake brings authentic Portuguese Pastel de Nata to the neighborhood. With an eclectic coffee menu and freshly baked pastéis de nata made daily, each visit offers a taste of home and comfort. Every batch is crafted multiple times a day for that fresh, just-out-of-the-oven experience!
